Console Trade-In Market in 2026
The gaming console market is evolving rapidly. With the PS5 Pro already on shelves and the Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon, now is a strategic time to evaluate your console's trade-in value.
PlayStation 5
PS5 (Original / Slim)
- PS5 Disc Edition: $220–$270
- PS5 Digital Edition: $180–$220
- PS5 Slim Disc: $260–$310
- PS5 Slim Digital: $220–$260
PS5 Pro
- PS5 Pro (1 TB): $420–$480
- PS5 Pro (2 TB): $480–$540
What Affects PS5 Value
- Disc vs Digital: Disc editions consistently trade 15-20% higher
- Controller condition: Stick drift is the #1 issue — test before trading
- Firmware version: Surprisingly, some buyers pay premium for lower firmware versions
Xbox Series X|S
- Xbox Series X (1 TB): $200–$250
- Xbox Series X (2 TB, Galaxy Black): $280–$340
- Xbox Series S (512 GB): $100–$130
- Xbox Series S (1 TB, Carbon Black): $130–$160
Xbox consoles have lower trade-in values than PlayStation due to Microsoft's Game Pass strategy reducing demand for physical hardware.
Nintendo Switch
- Switch OLED: $180–$220
- Switch (Original, V2): $120–$150
- Switch Lite: $80–$110
Switch Timing Alert
With the Nintendo Switch 2 announced for 2025, the original Switch lineup is depreciating faster than usual. If you're planning to upgrade, trade in before the Switch 2 launch.
